WHAT’S SKIMBACO?

Skimbaco means living life to the fullest; enjoy the moment, live well and spread sunshine to people around you.

Skimba is a Finnish slang word for skiing and CO is for Colorado – Skimbaco doesn’t mean skiing in Colorado, but living life to the fullest, enjoying every minute of it and doing what you love. When you are in Colorado – ski, when you are in New York – go shopping or to museums; whatever you do, enjoy the moment, live life to the fullest and enjoy the moment. Think of skimbaco as modern carpe diem.

“Skiing in Colorado” is just one fun thing what our family does, and Skimbaco was born when we lived in Durango, Colorado. We live life to the fullest and I hope to inspire you to do the same. Katja Presnal

Katie Goodman, mother of two, believes that part of the goodness in life is sharing good food with friends and family. She’s a SAHM determined to make family meal time a priority while providing a variety of healthy and delicious food choices. PIA LILA, AKA MAURELITA, European lifestyle & travel expert

Maurelita is a Finnish redhead living in Paris with two kids and a French gentleman biker husband. Maurelita started blogging about her kids in Finnish in 2004 and soon got happed into writing bilingual blog posts also in French about education, social media, going out in Paris, sustainability and shopping… and any challenges that a 2.0 mum would face. In her second life she’s also known to play around with knowledge management and social media. SATU VÄNSKÄ-WESTGARTH, Adventure & European lifestyle expert

In the early 2009 Satu decided to take a year off the regular nine to five lifestyle in Finland and launched on an adventurous year on the road, sometimes travelling with her kayak, bike or skis and sometimes without. One year has turned to next and she is still enjoying the life out there living her dream. Together in her journey is the not so British entrepreneur husband from Britain, who seems to spend more time outside the borders of his homeland than within. With background in marketing management and communications Satu is figuring out the next step in her life and career, while planning the travels to come. Jennae Petersen is a mother, a graphic artist, a connoisseur of beautiful interiors and a purveyor of all things design. She also believes it is her duty to strive toward sustainable living. This means being more conscious about every aspect of life. She is the founder and author of Green Your Decor and Green & Gorgeous blogs. She also runs Hibiscus Creative, a successful, full-service graphic design firm specializing in branding and Thesis theme customizations. She designed the Skimbaco logos and blogs.

MARIA LICHTY, Healthy Lifestyle & Vegetarian Food Expert

Maria Lichty is the co-creator of Two Peas and Their Pod, a successful food and recipe website. Maria and her husband, Josh, are known as the “cooking couple.” They make a great team in the kitchen and love sharing their recipes with the world. Maria is also passionate about health and wellness. She has a degree in health promotion and enjoys helping others make positive health behavior changes. In her free time, Maria also enjoys traveling, exercising, reading, and spending time with her adorable nieces and nephew.

MATT PRESNAL, Men’s Lifestyle Expert, Skier & Helicopter Pilot

Like any perfect husband, Katja’s husband Matt participates in the family business and occasionally writes for Skimbaco. Matt writes from the perspective of a modern dad. When not running after three kids, cooking gourmet family dinners and Whrrling trips to the zoo, Matt is skiing black diamonds or test flying helicopters. A former U.S. Army helicopter pilot, who saved numerous lives as an EMS pilot in the Rocky Mountains, yet Matt’s most important job is being a father, which he excels as most everything else he does (says his wife).
