Wire Shelving Covered

by Katja Presnal on July 30, 2009

I am a huge fan of wire shelving. Really, I am. You can put them to pieces and up again, and when you are creative, they can even look cool, edgy and modern, and not just inside your closet. Here is one of my favorite quick fixes with wire shelving – I made a fabric cover for the wire shelf, and my girls loved it in their old room. I used sheets (the fairy is Laura Ashley, rest of them Ralph Lauren if I remember correctly) that I found inexpensively from TJ Maxx, and the whole project took less than a day from start to finish. If you really want to go all the way, use designer fabrics and you could even do front panels to entirely hide the wire shelving.

That is so cute! I just happened to see your Tweet and popped over, since I love seeing cheap decorating solutions. I can totally see your garage/future craft room with some of those. You could even sew a panel for the front and velcro it on the top if you wanted to hide the stuff. I love wire shelving, we have it in our closet and it’s so versatile.

LOVE this! Our house seriously lacks storage space so we have a bunch of these shelving units. Great idea!

What a great idea!!! My husband just said he would like to make something similar but with WOOD. That kind of gave me a headache thinking about it, haha. But THIS I can do – looks so much more simple.

That is so cute! You haven’t seen my embarrassing sewing, though. It’s pretty terrible…
